The Hospice and Palliative Care Association of Nigeria (HPCAN) was registered in December 2007 with the vision to lead Nigeria towards a compassionate society where every individual facing serious illness receives dignified and holistic palliative care, ensuring quality of life and comfort for patients and their families.

With increasing membership in almost all the 36 states of the Nation, HPCAN is dedicated to pioneering palliative care excellence within Nigeria and beyond. Through proactive awareness campaigns, policy advocacy, education and training initiatives, fostering strategic partnerships, and holding an Annual General Meeting, the Association aims to elevate the standard of palliative care provision.

This year’s Congress is schedule to hold from 2nd to 4th July 2024 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. The overall theme of this event is “Innovations in Palliative Care, Navigating Challenges and Expanding Horizons". Sub-themes include: 1) Technological Advancement in Palliative Care; and 2) Cultural Competence in Palliative Care.

The conference will begin with a virtual Pre-conference Workshop on 2nd  July 2024 with the following topics for discussion: 1)
Technology/Al and Digital Tools in Palliative Care, at 14:00(W.A.T) and 2) Death and Dying, at 15:20(W.A.T). The main congress will be hybrid and will bring together local and international stakeholders as well as experts in the field of palliative care.

The Local Organising Committee and her partners cordially invite you to part of a round table discussion on Innovations in Palliative Care in your country. It is an hour virtual session which will hold on Thursday 4th July 2024 at 12:15(W. A. T)

We look forward to welcoming you to the conference in Port Harcourt.
