Volunteer, Resource Mobilisation /Grants and Fundraising Specialist.

The Volunteer Resource Mobilisation/Grants and Fundraising Specialist is responsible for working with the Executive Director and other staff to  identify funding opportunities for APCA, taking measures to exploit the opportunities, developing new donor partnerships, and expanding the grant development and fundraising portfolio, in pursuit of organisational financial sustainability. The Volunteer will work with the Executive Director to ensure that APCA has in place appropriate strategies and programs for Resource Mobilisation, and that these are effectively implemented.

Reports to:   Executive Director
The post holder can either be based at the APCA Secretariat in Kampala, Uganda or work remotely from any part of the world.

Key result areas and responsibilities

  • To work with the Executive Director to set up a system of identifying funding opportunities from all networks and social media platforms.

  • Develop responses to funding opportunities of identified new donors and funding sources for APCA.

  • To engage the private sector with a view to link their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes to palliative care activities in Africa.

  • To liaise with the APCA Communications personnel and engage donors in multimedia fundraising campaigns: Consultant to engage private sector donors in giving campaigns through public relations initiatives.

  • Focusing on the development of the APCA sustainability account by generating unrestricted funding and funds that can be invested as reserves for the organisation.

  • Prepare periodic narrative reports for the APCA management team and e donors.

Minimum Academic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Marketing, Public Administration, Public Relations, Business Administration or any other development related field.

  • Master’s degree is an added advantage.

  • A person without the above minimum qualifications but with resource mobilisation skills and a track record in the field will be considered.

Required skills:

  • Resource mobilisation skills with grants acquisition and fundraising management with tangible results in any charitable environment;

  • Implementing international or regional resource mobilisation/ fundraising programmes with donor relations and engagement skills.

  • Having skills in grant and fundraising proposal drafting

  • Corporate, trust and event fundraising engagement history and skills.
