Project Partnerships

Partnerships falling into this category are intended for specific purposes, and are for a time-limited duration.  These purposes can include: joint fundraising and / or jointly bidding for project funds; joint implementation of activities (e.g. training); joint research; or joint communication / advocacy.  Characteristics of these partnerships include:

  • Being dependent on producing measurable, positive results on a regular basis within a set time frame.
  • Specifics of how partnerships in this category develop, and whether or not they are formalized through an MOU, sub contract agreement or another mechanism, are determined on a case-by-case basis—according to project and donor requirements.

Criteria for working with / continuing to work with project partners include:

1.    Overlap between the goals and approaches of APCA and the project partner, with the partner having at least one of the following characteristics:

  • Reaches target groups similar to APCA's (e.g. policy makers);
  • Reaches groups that APCA would like to reach but currently cannot (e.g. refugees, prisoners);
  • Has expertise, connections or political or economic influence that APCA does not;
  • Clearly enhances APCA's ability to generate financial and non-financial resources, and;
  • Provides reputational benefits to APCA through active association.

2.    Clear reasons for valuing APCA's brand, products, or services; i.e. it must be obvious that the relationship has some measure of equality and mutual benefit.
